Downtown Farm | The Farm Resting on the fringes of Dartmoor National Park you will find Downtown Farm. The location is ideal for those who desire a peaceful retreat, wishing to absorb the beauty of Dartmoor, explore West Devon by foot, bicycle, motorcycle, horse or car and yes, there is ample parking for cars & shelter available for motorcycles & bicycles plus stabling for horses. Your hosts Guy & Ellie extend a warm welcome to you from their home. A charming 16th century farmhouse offering character accommodation & nesting within 12 acres of land which is home to traditional, British rare breeds such as White Park Cattle; Shetland, Portland & Jacob sheep; Saddleback, Welsh & Berkshire pigs. A particular feature which our guests always enjoy is our Wetland Garden which is home to our menagerie of ducks & chickens, always providing a ready supply of fresh free range eggs for breakfast.

The Village The beautiful medieval village of Lydford, as the description suggests is of great historic interest & host to the Norman Castle (pictured to the right) & stunning Lydford Gorge which is owned by the National Trust. Lydford is very appealing to walkers, cyclists, horse riders & ramblers due to the “National Cycle Route 27”. The proximity & access to the many wonders of Dartmoor National Park for both riders & ramblers to enjoy. Local eateries include “The Castle Inn” our aptly named local offering traditional country fayre, The restaurant at “Lydford Country House Hotel” & the highly regarded “Dartmoor Inn,” which between them cater for an array of different palates.
